As the exclusive legal representative for Thailand in the World Services Group (WSG) network, the preeminent global network of independent law firms with over 115 law firms across 150 jurisdictions, Kudun and Partners hosted the first-ever regional meeting in Thailand from 29 November – 1 December, 2023.
The WSG regional meeting began with the exclusive WSG Welcome Reception at our opulent locale office. We were delighted to extend a warm welcome to members and distinguished guests from multiple jurisdictions across the region, including Australia, Bermuda, Cambodia, China, France, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, USA, offering an exquisite glimpse of Thai delicacies. Under the theme “KAPWelcomesWSG”, guests were welcomed by our partners and team members elegantly donned in Thai costumes, and entertained by Joe Louis Puppetry. We also installed the 360-degree photo booth, allowing guests and firm members to capture memorable video clips together, ensuring they could take home wonderful memories from the event.
The following day, we had the absolute honour of having Pichit Akrathit, Chairman of Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission, to kick off the WSG Regional meeting with his opening keynote speech. His valuable insights illuminated the evolving corporate landscape and highlighted the positive future of Thailand’s capital markets. Culminating over two enriching days, the WSG Asia Pacific Regional Meeting 2023 featured exclusive panel discussions led by the region’s foremost professionals.
Apart from WSG members, we were also honoured to have Chitanong Poomipark, Chief Legal Officer, Dusit International; Jackson Pek, Senior Vice President & General Counsel, Amadeus; Tom Thomas, General Counsel, Agoda; Corey Harris, Managing Director, Aksum Holdings; Jessica Seah, Asia Editor, Law.com International; Dr. Benny Lo, Barrister, Des Voeux Chambers; Dr. Amnart, Assistant Prof., Thammasat University; Delphine Ho, Arbitrator, The Arbitration Chambers; Chengkwee Chua, Director of Sales & Business Development, iManage; Santipap Charasphaew, Head of Legal, Bitazza; and Rijuta Misra, Group Head of Legal, aCommerce; joining us in various panel discussions revolving around Dream Counsel Discussions, Law Firm Succession and Retention, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), and Artificial Intelligence, among others. The in-depth discussions delved into cutting-edge topics, fostering a robust exchange of ideas and insights. Both days concluded wonderfully with an elegant river cruise onboard the Pruek Cruise on the majestic Chao Phraya River and lunch at the Issaya Siamese Club, where the celebrity chef came out to provide a walkthrough of Thai food.
The WSG Asia Pacific Regional Meeting 2023 marks a significant milestone as the initial regional meeting held in Thailand. Coupled with unique opportunities at the city’s authentic destinations, attendees not only engaged in professional discourse but also created memories in the atmosphere of collaboration and shared expertise.
